The Twelfth Edition is a blog about Hancock, Michigan and the Copper Country around it, written by a Hancock couple.
We'll write about the city, about Houghton County and, now and then, Keweenaw County, and about the civic business that runs them: the council, the boards, the commissions, and what they decide. We'll give the history behind an issue and we'll say what we think of it. Every factual claim will have a public record behind it, and we'll correct our mistakes in public and date the correction.
The first edition will be along when it's ready.
About the name
Amerikan Suomalainen Lehti, the first Finnish-language newspaper in the United States, was printed in Hancock by Antti J. Muikku in 1876. It ran about a dozen issues and folded before the year was out. The name picks up the count where it left off. The ribbons on the crest read Worldwide and Sunny Side: where the paper reaches, and where it comes from.
